The Musée d'Orsay at a glance
The museum stands on the left bank of the Seine, in a former railway station built for the world fair of 1900. It opened as a museum on 9 December 1986. Its collection covers western art from 1848 to 1914.
It is a good stop on a Seine day, because the river is right outside and the Batobus stops at the Musée d'Orsay. Opening hours, prices and entry rules are set by the museum, and this independent guide is not connected to it. Check the museum's current information before you go.
